עֲקִילַסpr. n. m. ʿĂḳtias, Aquila, the alleged translator of the Bible into Greek, frequ. surnamed הַגֵּר, the proselyte, and identified with אוּנְקְלוֹס. Y.Meg.I, 71c top תירגם ע׳ הגרוכ׳ A. the proselyte interpreted the Torah before R. El. and , v. יְפיפָה (Bab. ib. 3a תרגים של תורה אונקלום הגר אמרו מפיוכ׳).
